Mocha Moms is the premier voice and support group for mothers of color. Mocha Moms welcomes people of all religions, races, educational backgrounds and income levels. Anyone who supports the mission of Mocha Moms is welcome to join.

We provide sisterhood and support to our Moms through a variety of social activities and community service programming (Reading Nook launch, Shot@Life, educational forums, and coat drives for needy families).  Social activities include bi-weekly support meetings, play-dates, picnics and Moms Only potlucks and restaurant outings.  Our annual Mocha Mom Tea, Brunch and Holiday Party are not to be missed!

Our chapter is also dedicated to providing meaningful service and informational forums for the benefit of our members and the community.  Past service activities include creating boys barbershop reading nooks, collecting donated purses for homeless mothers, initiating clothing and book drives and providing sandwiches and Thanksgiving meals for Urban ministries to distribute to those in need.

Our chapter has also organized and sponsored important forums on education including introducing mothers to the variety of school options for our children in the Durham area and how we can best close the achievement gap to provide our children with the best educational opportunities.  Other forums have included will writing, financial planning and how to cope with postpartum depression.
